One World-One Option

I’m proud to confirm that the oil crisis is reducing, since people are becoming more aware of the oil dependency. Citizens are looking towards more green solutions and efficient technology that could potentially be a substitute for oil. The crisis was quite intimidating and unsustainable at first, because my family has never experienced such scarcity, struggled through food shortages, and witnessed riots during these terrible times. We have seen businesses close down since they were unable to keep a stable establishment (Since there is no reliable import of food). Fortunately life has given us another chance and another opportunity to look the other way; the way of impacting everyone to work together to improve society as a whole. The change has given us the power to utilize substitution, marginal utility, and real income to become more aware of the circumstances. Since, I have gone through this time period of oil limitation; I have changed my actions. For instance: I now use reusable bags, green cleaning products, energy efficient appliances and light bulbs, and only using a car if needed (and hopefully purchasing a hybrid vehicle), and other oil efficient solutions. Hopefully we learn from this crisis; is it until we lose something is when we start realizing how valuable something really is. I am looking forward to a greener future.

A Minor Setback

This morning I heard about the Gulf leakage and I was quite stunned to hear that petroleum was polluting the ocean areas, affecting all marine life. What hit me the most was seeing lifeless jellyfish on the surface, but not only is it affecting fishes it was also affecting people in general. Like restaurants, fishermen, and transportation of produce. If fishes are polluted than they are pretty much useless because if the public consumes these fish then they will be in a high risk of getting sick. If fish become contaminated, then there will eventually be a shortage of fish. This makes it more costly. The only possible way of getting hold of fish is buying elsewhere. This will make it hard for those that depend on the Gulf area to support their family. As the executive of BP oil Cooperation, I am quite ashamed, but we are doing everything possible, as through taking care of the leakage clean-up. I am conscious of the damages and we will do anything possible to make things right as through paying for the clean up and paying off those who were tremendously affected. I am aware that many jobs are dependent over the sea‘s resources. This is a minor setback and will be back and running as soon as this problem settles down. I hope this inconvenience does not encourage any type of negative action. Although, I might admit the thought of losing everything will potentially harm a person’s self control, as through increase of crime, suicide, emotional brake down, and so on. These damages can’t be undone. We’re doing everything possible to make things right. Like I said before, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Subsiders-Fiction or Reality?

This evening, I woke up and I felt like seeing a movie, so I was going through the batch of movies that I had bought the previous day. One movie in particular stood out to me since the cover was appealing and I adore vampires, so that was a plus. So, I inserted the disc inside the DVD and got a blanket so I can be comfortable. I started watching the movie and it instantly caught my eye when noticed that the vampires were farming humans for their blood. The more blood that was harvested, the more humanity was disappearing. Blood was used as a common resource which one could buy at any business, as in restaurants, stores, markets, etc. The more limited the blood became, the more of a demand it became. This was because blood is a necessity for vampires to keep their original form; if not they will turn into these horrible bat creatures called Subsiders. This eventually happened when vampires decided to not eat blood so it was pretty unavoidable consequence. They needed blood in order for them to go through their day, vampires were pretty dependent on blood, and there was no substitution for blood, causing many to be very concerned. I was able to relate this movie to our current crises; the shortage of oil. This is because our lives pretty much depend on oil. We use oil for many things including using as a resource to get around, as in getting us to the doctor, dentist, therapist, mental institution, and so on. We rely on oil based transportation as in cars, buses, and trains. I fear that humanity will become like the “subsiders” and become aggressive, loose all self-control, and lose stability in our lives all because the desire for oil.

The Cruel Reality

We are living in a world where your only source of transportation is your feet. The only possible way to get around would take hours of walking, something we are not used to. I used ask myself, who would in the right mind travel in foot in this century? Such reality is due to the oil crisis and it’s only getting worse. It is not only affecting travelers, it is also affecting businesses as well. Since oil is becoming scarce, they are forced to close down. One of those businesses that hit rock bottom was American Airlines. They were unable to buy oil and they need fuel to power their planes to fulfill their service. It not only hit airline companies’ revenue, it also affected national budget. With the closure of the airline, it will affect employment since thousands of people depend on this company. This will drastically influence our economy to downfall since people will no longer have the ability to contribute throughout the economy and will no longer be able to travel; which will affect other foreign countries. People are spending less money on items like chips, soda, television, and other things that we don’t necessarily need to survive. Since luxury items are now scarce, these products are becoming pricey and no one is able to buy them anyways. They are an elastic demand. Even though all products are becoming pricey, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat aren’t as affected as luxury items because they are inelastic demand. This is deeply affecting many people all around the world, if this continues; I am afraid what the world will come to. All I can say is, why couldn’t this be prevented?

Food is becoming Limited!!!

I’m all out of milk, cheese, tomatoes, and eggs. I went to the store and it was impossible to get them. It was devastating to think that I will never eat and drink these products ever again. I was appalled because I have never experienced such horrible limitations. Food products today are becoming scarce due to the oil crises. Since oil is limited, transportation is no longer available for food. Although, I am still able to find some local food products it’s not as easy as it used to be. What am I suppose to do when food becomes scarce? Am I supposed to be growing my own crops for fresh produce? I must rely on locavores; I really need to find local areas where I can buy my produce so that I don’t have to rely on imported food. Maybe, I can start searching for a farmers market. If that’s an impossible solution, I can look for other solutions. I have heard about the new way of creating food, people are calling it "Frankenfood”. When fresh food is not within reach, you can always count on Frankenfood to have the job done. Frankenfood is simply a substitution for food. I really need a solution for my food supply soon before it’s too late.

The Cycle Of Life

Demand and Supply is when a person is willing to buy a product for a certain price. To understand this a bit clearer, I am going to break these words up. For instance demand is the measure of the amount of products in which are wanted or desired by customers and they that are willing and able to buy. This means the more expensive the product the less of a demand it will become. And Supply is the measure of the amount of how many products will be manufactured in order to be sold to the customer.

When I took the oil quiz, I was quite shocked of the results because I found out that I don’t necessarily know much, relating to oil. I would certainly like to know about oil while spreading awareness.

Trouble in Eyjafjallajoekull

It’s quite scary knowing one of your family member being stuck in a place where a volcano is ready to erupt. Even though many people are consciously awaiting for there flight, they are worried if they are going to come back home soon. The hazardous environment is affecting flights due to the tiny particles of rock, glass, and sand contained in the ash cloud from the still-erupting volcano that can potentially jam aircraft engines. Although, Eyjafjallajoekull is causing so much trouble in the UK and other several other European countries, it has not pose any significant risk to public health, but precaution is advised. Many of those that were planning to take a plane changed their minds, instead they took the train to go back home. This over exceeded the passenger range because of so many people were trying to take the same train at once. This has caused so much stress and time; just imagine if there was no petroleum left? Would there be any possible way of them going back home?

Not my Deodrant!!!!

When I thought Life couldn‘t get worse , it hit me once again! Not only was my sweater and lotions discontinued, so was my deodorant!. I am a person that cannot live without my deodorant: in order for me to smell the best that I can. I obviously don’t naturally smell like cherry blossom. My daily routine is being around people and meeting new people all the time and if I don’t smell good, it doesn’t give them a good impression. As the saying “the first impressions are often the truest”.

Petroleum strikes again!!

It happened…. Again!!! First, the lack of sweaters made it impossible, but now my lotion! This is getting out of control. The dryness is so unbearable. I simply need lotion to sooth my skin. My face, my hands, my shoulders, and everything else, it's simply uncomfortable and I am in need of lotion. For years, I have counted on lotion to help me through my day, but now every drop of lotion is gone.

A life Without My Sweater

Today in the morning, I woke up and had noticed my dog was too quite since he wakes me up in the morning. I wondered to the kitchen, living, restroom, and I was wondering where he would be. I finally found him ripping my favorite sweat-shirt. I was very upset and I didn’t think much of it since it’s just a sweater. That morning I went to my local store, but sadly there were no sweat-shirts. I was told by the salesman that he was all out and I would be lucky to even find. I desperately went to various large stores but they were also out of them. I was freezing cold, my body ached, and my hands were numb. I was thinking to myself how hard life will be without sweaters, I imagined if it affected me and probably numerous people are also facing the same crisis.
